Review of The Cross Keys Restaurant in Leeds

The Cross Keys Restaurant in Leeds
Full of old world charm and cosy sophistication; a warm welcome awaits diners at The Cross Keys Restaurant in Leeds. This multi-award winning pub and restaurant has already made a huge impact on the UK culinary scene. Voted ‘Pick of the Pubs’ in the 2010 AA Pub Guide as well as making it to the final of the Imbibe Service Awards and being named one of the ‘Top Three Gastro Pubs in the UK’. Friendly, welcoming staff with a great knowledge of craft ales and food plus a menu that showcases the finest British ingredients, mean the awards and recognition have only just begun for this fabulous restaurant.

The head chef and kitchen team use only the freshest and most ethically produced ingredients, usually sourced locally from Yorkshire. The menu is seasonal, but this ensures the diners are getting the very best of what’s available. Just looking at the a la carte menu and it’s easy to see why The Cross Keys is one the top British restaurants in Leeds. Inventive starters such as Cross Keys black pudding with creamed wild mushroom and nettle dressing or the delectable sounding Sand Hutton asparagus with truffle butter and crispy hen’s egg are just the beginning of a well thought out menu guaranteed to excite your taste buds!

Vegetarians are in for a real treat as much care has gone into creating innovative dishes that will tempt even devoted meat lovers. Try the beetroot potato dumplings with shallots, peas and lemon mint dressing, or the hearty lentil, summer vegetable and Wensleydale crumble. The lunch menu is just as tempting and diners can choose from sandwiches to hot dishes like grilled mackerel with pickled fennel, cherry tomato and caper berry salad. All meals have the option of being served with additional sides of mash potato, chunky chips, vegetables of the day or a green salad.

There is nothing better than going out for a traditional Sunday roast dinner. No cooking, no washing up just relaxation and amazingly prepared food. Many restaurants in Leeds offer a Sunday roast but The Cross Keys makes the whole experience extra special. Their unique ‘Sunday Feasting’ offer allows groups of between 6-10 people (depending on the roast) to dine for a nominal fee. Choose from whole roast rib of beef served pink, whole roast pork loin with crackling and applesauce or whole roast leg of lamb stuffed with rosemary and served pink. Served with all the trimmings, diners carve the meat themselves.
