Review of Salute @ The White Swan Restaurant in Leeds

Salute @ The White Swan Restaurant in Leeds

When it comes to warmth, friendliness and fantastic ingredients cooked well, nobody does it quite as good as the Italians! This is certainly true of Salute @ The White Swan Restaurant in Leeds. Elegant yet down to earth, this restaurant invites you to relax in the ‘neighbourhood feel’ they have successfully created. Salute is all about chilling out, eating well and enjoying people’s company. The menu is full of mouthwatering choices such as the pollo crème; pan fried chicken breast in a white wine and wild mushroom sauce with baby new potatoes and buttered green beans. Vegetarians may be tempted by the ricotta, spinach and aubergine cannelloni while meat lovers would be hard pressed to turn down the Hemingway’s 21 days matured 9oz sirloin steak ‘Diane’, in a mushroom, mustard and brandy cream sauce served with hand cut chunky chips.

Of course Salute @ The White Swan is dedicated to using only the finest ingredients and they work in partnership with Hemingway’s Butchers and Deli in Rothwell, who are in direct contact with local farmers. When it comes to restaurants in Leeds, Salute is top-notch, serving quality ingredients that have been lovingly and carefully prepared by highly skilled chefs. Anyone who suffers from a gluten intolerance will know that most Italian food is out of bounds, however Salute comes recommended by the UK Coeliac Society, as they offer a good range of gluten free pastas and pizza bases.

Specializing in some seriously good pasta dishes there is a fabulous choice here but of course with that extra level of care that Salute @ The White Swan bring to each dish they prepare. The ravioli dell’aragosta is absolutely divine; succulent and rich lobster ravioli with prawns, white wine, garlic spring onion and cherry tomatoes. Who doesn’t love the sound of the spaghetti carbonara with crispy smoked Italian pancetta, parmesan cream sauce and a decadent soft poached egg? Italian restaurants in Leeds that embrace the warmth and ethos of the Italian culture like Salute does, are hard to come by! Risotto enthusiasts should try the highly recommended king scallop risotto which comes with pan seared king scallops, Italian pancetta, brie and spring leek. The choice of pizzas is no less astounding and each one comes with crushed Italian tomato and 100% imported Italian mozzarella. There are special offers available for a 2-course Sunday lunch or ‘Grazing’ menu, plus with a stunning function room there are also specials for group/party bookings!
